Box 2009 0 (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) •Stockton,California 95201
iFoa`'•
(209) 468-3400
_ U
RICHARD HENDRIX
HENDRIX AND SONS TRUCKING
3730 MUNFORD AVENUE
STOCKTON CA 95205 OCT 0 4 1993
RE: 3730 MUNFORD AVENUE SITE CODE: 1694
STOCKTON CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the letter report dated September
29, 1993, submitted by RESNA, and has the following comments.
The proposal to monitor the groundwater levels in the monitoring
wells at the site on a monthly basis over the upcoming wet season
and to sample monitoring well MW#1 should the groundwater level
measurements indicate the sampling would provide useful
information appears to be warranted at this time.
The soil sample results from underneath the former diesel tank
recently removed at this site did not show detectable
hydrocarbons in the diesel range, indicating that a release of
petroleum has not occurred from the diesel tank. However, the
soil sample results did detect hydrocarbons in the gasoline
range, indicating that this area may have been impacted -By the
release of petroleum from the former regular gasoline tank.
The low levels of contamination noted in the stockpiled soil
generated during the removal of the diesel tank may not be
indicative of the entire stockpile as the samples were composited
for analysis. PHS/EHD neither recommends nor prohibits the use
of this soil as backfill material for the open excavation.
However, please be advised that this area may have been impacted
from the release of petroleum from the former regular gasoline
tank and may need to be included in the investigation efforts for
that tank.
The full extent of the soil contamination in the area underneath
and immediately surrounding the former gasoline tank pit still
needs to be determined. This information, once obtained, will be
used to evaluate all possible remedial alternatives, if
remediation is needed, deemed to be feasible specifically for the
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services 10
