EA
?`Fj v : rking To Restore Nature
93 SEP 2'1 pry ;
1710 Main Street E 3
Escalon, CA 95320
Phone: (209) 838-3507
FAX: (209) 838-3509
September 20, 1993
Ms. Linda Turkatte
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009
-Stockton, CA. 9.5201
RE: Subsurface Investigation, 30 Munford Avenue, Stockton, California, Site Code: 1694
Dear Ms. Turkatte:
RESNA Industries, Inc: (RESNA), on behalf of Hendrix and;Sons Trucking, is submitting this
correspondence in response to a written request by San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental. Health Division (PHS/EHD), for additional subsurface investigation at the above
referenced site (PHS/EHD correspondence dated 08/04/93).
Initial groundwater data collected from well MW 1 in 1988 indicated that groundwater beneath
the site had been impacted by a hydrocarbon release (Table 1). However, the analytical results
are somewhat nebulous. The detected level of benzene in water samples appear to be
inordinately high in relation to the total hydrocarbon.result, particularly in the May 1988 sample
(350 ppb benzene, but only 0.650 total hydrocarbons). The last water sample collected from
MW 1 before groundwater dropped below the well intake (June 1991) indicated benzene was
present at levels below the detection limit of 0.5 ppb. Samples collected from newly installed
wells MW2, MW3, and MW4 in May 1993 detected no gasoline coristituents indicated that
groundwater has not been significantly impacted beneath the site.
Groundwater beneath the site currently occurs at a depth of approximately 74.2 to 74.9 feet
below ground surface. Monitoring well MW 1 is currently devoid of water. However, the total
depth of well MW 1 is approximately 74.6 feet below ground surface, indicating that the water
table is within one to two feet of the bottom of well MWL
To c6nfirm groundwater conditions beneath .the site Hendrix and Sons Trucking proposes to
mo%nitor groundwater levels on a monthly basis throughout the winter season in, anticipation of
L-091793.DRF
