1.0 INTRODUCTION/HISTORY
This report is being submitted in response to a request by the San Joaquin County Public Health
' Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD), to further investigate documented soil and
groundwater contamination at the Hendrix & Sons Trucking, Inc, property (the site) located at
' 3730 Munford Avenue, Stockton, California. The site location is shown on Figure 1.
' One underground regular gasoline fuel tank was located along the western portion of the subject
' property. During a routine systems test in early 1986 it was determined that gasoline fuel had
leaked from a joint in the product piping adjacent to the tank. It is the understanding of RESNA
Industries, Inc. (RESNA) that the use of the tank was discontinued and the tank has since been
removed. The former tank location is shown on Figure 2.
On April 21 and 22, 1986, J H. Klemfelder & Associates einfelder advanced one soil boring
( ) g
' to a total depth of 75 feet below grade, adjacent to the former tank pit, for the purpose of
installing a groundwater monitoring well (MW1).
Laboratory results for soil and groundwater samples collected from boring/well MW 1 indicated
soil and groundwater beneath the site had been impacted by petroleum hydrocarbon constituents.
Analytical results for soil and groundwater are summarized in Tables 1 and 2, respectively.
1
The initial investigation is discussed in detail in Kleinfelder's June 20, 1986 report titled Soil
and Groundwater Investigation.
' In correspondence dated February 15, 1993, the PHS/EHD requested the sampling of well
MW 1 In addition, the PHS/EHD requested additional monitoring wells to further characterize
' subsurface conditions at the site.
' On March 2, 1993, RESNA personnel visited the site in order to purge and sample groundwater
from MW 1 However, the well was devoid of water, indicating the water table has dropped
PAR-0593 FNL 1
