3) Oil -Filled Equipment in Storage <br />a) Concrete Storage -Slab Southeast of the Office/Warehouse Building <br />Area 2 <br />Approximately 140 pieces of returned or new oil -filled electrical <br />equipment are stored on this concrete paved area. The amount of <br />oil -filled equipment stored in this area varies. The returned equipment <br />has been taken out of service for reasons of failure or replacement and is <br />being returned for repair, disposal, or warranty. <br />The volume of oil in the various pieces of equipment ranges from 5 to <br />290 gallons. Any oil spilled in this area would be contained in the yard <br />area. <br />Possible Spill Occurrence: <br />i) Overturning during The volume of oil that could reasonably <br />handling with a be expected to spill is 5-290 gallons. <br />forklift or Operations and maintenance personnel are <br />boom truck: trained in safe operation of forklifts and boom <br />trucks to avoid such occurrences. <br />ii) Leakage during Any equipment that shows signs of leakage <br />storage: is immediately drained of oil or placed in a <br />plastic -lined wood box. The storage area is <br />inspected daily for signs of leakage. No more <br />than 5 to 10 gallons of oil could reasonably be <br />expected to leak before it would be discovered. <br />b) Hazardous -Waste Storage Container and Area <br />Several pieces of returned equipment containing PCB or suspected PCB <br />contaminated oil are occasionally stored in this container and area. The <br />equipment has been taken out of service for reasons of failure or <br />replacement. If the equipment shows signs of leakage it is placed in <br />plastic -lined wood boxes as secondary containment. These "half boxes" <br />are then temporarily stored in the container and area prior to shipment to <br />a licensed hazardous waste disposal facility. Proper barricades and <br />placards are posted to delineate this temporary storage area. The <br />volume of oil in the various pieces of equipment ranges from 5 to 100 <br />gallons. The storage container has a false floor with a containment <br />sump below. The impermeable sump would contain any oil spilled within <br />the container. <br />0 Possible Spill Occurrence: <br />M1 <br />
