BOMB THREAT <br />Anonymous bomb threats are generally intended to disrupt normal business <br />activities rather than to warn employees of the existence of an actual bomb. <br />Each facility should have a bomb threat plan which provides for an orderly and <br />systematic search of the facility and identifies the official who will evaluate <br />the threat and make the decision whether or not to carry out an evacuation. <br />(See PG&E Corporate Security Manual.) <br />If you receive a bomb threat on the telephone, follow these procedures: <br />1. Do not panic. <br />2. Keep the caller on the phone as long as possible. <br />3. Make notation of: <br />a. Time of call. <br />b. Sex of caller. <br />c. Estimated age of caller. <br />d. Accent, if any. <br />e. Emotional state of caller (normal, angry, depressed, etc.), <br />f. Any other characteristics that would aid in identificatic-i. <br />4. Take the message down word for word. <br />5. Ask the caller for the exact location of the bomb (what building it is in <br />and where it is located in that building). <br />6. Ask the caller: <br />a. When the bomb is set to explode. <br />b. Where the bomb is right now. <br />c. What the bomb looks like (wrapped in package, briefcase, etc.). <br />d. Type of explosive involved. <br />e. Why the bomb was placed. <br />5-34 <br />
