PHSIEHD has a contract with the Calftmia
State Water Resources Control Board to conduct a UST corrective action program. The above
referenced site has been placed in the PHS/EHD Local Oversight Program(LOP).
On January 22, 1998, L. and M. Construction removed three(3) USTs at this site. Sail sample
results evidenced gasoline contamination under the southwest dispenser island which warranted
further investigation and remedial action.
On February 5, 1998 PHSIEHD completed and filed an Unauthorized Release Farn and directed
further site characterization be completed to determine the full extent of the contamination. On
February 6, 1998 a permit was issued to West Hazmat and soil borings were completed in the
area of the release. Analytical results indicated the contamination was limited; only MTBE was
present at a concentration of 8 ppb.
Contaminated soil (approx.60 cubic yards)was removed from the southwestern dispenser island
on February 12, 1998 during PHSIEHD inspection. The contaminated soil was stockpiled on-site
pending.aeration. When soil aeration is completed, please schedule an inspection by PHSIEHD
during confirmation soil sampling by your contracted laboratory.
An an site water well used by the facility is required to be tested to determine current groundwater
quality/conditions. Please notify this office of the next sampling event so a site inspection.can be
scheduled during water sampling by your contracted laboratory.
if you have not already submitted a claim to the California State Water Resources Control Board
Cleanup Fund, PHS/EHD recommends you do so immediately.
if you have any further questions regarding this matter, contact Harlin Knoll at(209)468-3442.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division `
Harlin Knoll, Senior REHS Margaret agorio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: L&M Construction, 9640 Kiefer Boulevard, Suite G, Sacramento, CA 95827
c: SWRCB, Cleanup Fund-Pamela Rarick SACFHrAR
A Division of San Joaquin County Hcalth Cane Services
