DATE: August 25, 1995
RE : Sumiden Wire Submittal in response to 7-13-95 inspection
ITEMS SUBMITTED:
1 . Cover letter headed Hazardous Waste Generator Program
stating violations outlined in report have been
corrected.
A. SWPC submitted results from MBT Laboratories,
Master Builders Technologies, a sample for one
combined wire drawing machines, floor and Dumpster
sample taken 3-23-95 to be run for CAM 17 TTLC. The
sample lab project no. is #11439-001 . Sample #11439
was analyzed for the following:
a. CAM Title 22 metals (TTLC) preparation method
EPA 3050 shows elevated metal levels for Chromium
68ppm, Copper 1500ppm, and Nickle 190 . These
metals need to be analyzed for their STLC levels .
Hazardous Waste levels of molybdenum are present at
8 , 500ppm which exceeds the TTLC of 3 , 500ppm. This
Hazardous result makes the dumpster waste a KO062
RCRA listed Hazardous waste.
All metals listed above have a subscript of (c) The
sample was diluted 5 fold due to the presenceof
non-target analyte interferences . Laboratory
results do not say how the results were calculated
and if the 5 fold dilution was factored into final
figure .
Note : Called DOHS in Berkley and spoke to Riz Parangalan who
confirmed MBT is a state accredited laboratory #1417 .
A. Additional violations noted during 7-13-95
Generator inspection #75 have not been submitted to
SWPC. This was to allow time for determination of
ferrous sulfate status as per CCR section 66262 . 11 .
B. Sample Analysis for WIG solids 08085 (Is this the
ferrous sulfate going to Crown?) received 8-8-95 by
Twinning Laboratories in Fresno (as per Chain of
Custody) . The samples were prepared and analyzed
8-9, 10, & 11 . Report dated August 14, 1995 for the
following:
Total Cam Metals (EPA 6010, 7420, 7740, &7471)
Cam Metals Extractable Concentration (WET)
Volatile Organics (EPA 8240)
Acid/Base/Neutral Organics (Part A EPA 8270)
Acid/Base/Neutral Organics (Part B EPA 8270)
Hazardous Waste Characteristics for Ignitability,
Reactivity, and Corrosivity (3 characterics only)
SWPC HAS NOT SUBMITTED TOXICITY INFORMATION
