GEF
GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
Arcadis (2012)also performed exposure scenarios to calculate the estimated cancer risk and
non-cancer health hazards. Based on a residential exposure scenario for adults and children
and using the maximum concentrations on Site, the estimated cancer risk is 2X 10-4 and the
non-cancer hazard index is 3.8. Tables showing calculations for cancer risk and hazard index
from Arcadis (2012) are included in Appendix A.
3.0 REMEDIAL ACTION OBJECTIVES
Remedial Action Objectives ("RAO")have been developed based on the COPC,type of
media, potential exposure pathway(s), and remediation goal. The RAO are intended to
establish acceptable exposure levels that are protective of human health and the environment.
3.1 Media and COPC
The media of concern at the Site is soil. The total volume of soil requiring excavation and
disposal is estimated at approximately 700 cubic yards ("yd3"). As shown in the table below,
the excavation volume for each AOC was estimated by multiplying the surface area of
impacts(as shown on Figure 3) by the depth to which soils are impacted. Of the thirteen
AOC, seven have been characterized with samples that delineate the depth of impacts to soil.
In the remaining six AOC, samples have only been analyzed between 0-0.5 feet bgs. In the
AOC without vertical characterization, the assumed depth of impacts used in volume
calculations is shown on the table below.
Former Gordon Research Company Property 8 of 20
Removal Action Workplan
June 2017
