Box 2009 N Stockton, CA 95201 C RE: 800 Kettleman Lane Lodi, CA New Tank Excavation Dear Mr. Knoll: Thank you for taking the time to talk with me on Wednesday, March 22, 1989 . As we discussed, Conoco is pulling tanks at the Kettleman Lane store. The tanks are currently located in an area known to contain gasoline, and the new tanks are to be located in a new excavation in an area thought not to have been affected by gasoline. As requested, four soil samples will be collected from the bottom of the new excavation at the corners and analyzed on a normal turn around basis for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline, benzene, -•oluene, ethyl benzene and xylene. Should analytical results show rhe soil to contain significant levels of petroleum hydrocarbons, the existing site remediation plan would be modified to take appropriate remediation action in the area of the new tanks. With the understan,-. ng that Conoco will take appropriate remedial action should significant levels of gasoline be found in the new excavation, I request a permit to install the new tanks be issued. I understand you have discussed the above points with Mark Hamilton of the Regional Water Quality Control Board and that he agrees with the above course of action.
