Spills or slug-discharges that enter the sanitary sewer directly or via the process operations can <br /> adversely impact the City of Stockton Treatment Plant. Immediate notification to the <br /> Wastewater Control Facility at 209-937-8341 must occur with a follow-up written notification of <br /> a spill/slug discharge within five (5) days. The written notification must include the nature of <br /> the spill/slug discharge, the cause and corrective measures to prevent future occurrences. <br /> In the event of a spill or release of chemicals or waste to the environment, immediately contact <br /> the San Joaquin Valley Health Department at 209-468-3420. Notify the California Emergency <br /> Management Agency at 1-800-852-7550. <br /> Spill Response: <br /> In the event of a spill or release of any type, the following response procedures must <br /> be executed: <br /> 1. Upon discovery of a chemical, wastewater or other spill,the General Manager, <br /> Production Manager and Maintenance Manager must be contacted immediately. <br /> 2. Process operations should immediately be suspended until an assessment of the <br /> incident has been completed by the General Manager. <br /> 3. Review applicable SSDS sheets for chemical spills to determine appropriate <br /> response procedures and PPE. <br /> 4. Based upon the assessment, a partial or full evacuation of the facility may be <br /> initiated. Activate evacuation notification. <br /> 5. Only trained and authorized personal should respond to spills. <br /> 6. All trained persons must wear personal protective equipment (PPE), which can <br /> include goggles or face shield, rubber aprons, gloves and boots, to handle <br /> chemicals. <br /> 7. Spill responders should use spill kit materials, such as absorbents ("Speedi Dry") <br /> and containment materials (e.g. Poly Pigs), to contain the spilled materials. Place <br /> used spill kit materials in a sealed plastic container and call Operations Support <br /> for guidance on how to properly dispose of the material. <br /> 8. If the spill or release has affected the environment, migrated to a storm sewer <br /> drain or can potentially impact the POTW notification to respective agencies and <br /> AUS corporate must be initiated immediately: <br />
