M- NDOR Fax:2095320773 Apr 15 10:51 P.02
r Alt
E
CONDOR EARTH TECHNOLOGIES INC.
Revised Work Plan for Well Closure
Triple E Facility 2Brian Lane
P Y P.O. B Box 3905
Linne Road,Tracy Sonora, CA 95370
April 15,2002 (209) 532-0361
FAX (209)532-0773
Introduction
This Revised Work Plan has been prepared on behalf of Triple E Produce (Triple E) by Condor
Earth Technologies, Inc. (Condor) and describes procedures to close seven monitor wells at the
Triple E Facility.Tlris Work Plan is revised to accommodate closure using wire line charges from
an approved Work Plan submitted March 29, 2002. The Iocation of the site is shown on Figure 1.
Wells in the path of development construction activities must be closed according to the Regional
Water Quality Control Board as stated in a Ietter to Triple E dated February 21, 2002. The
Regional Board did not require a Work Plan for well closure but did require that the wells be
closed in accordance with San Joaquin County Requirements. This Work Plan is provided to San
Joaquin County for approval.
Wells for Closure
Wells to be closed include wells indicated on the attached site map, Figure 2. These include
MW-2, MW-3, MW-4A, MW-4B, MW-5, MW-6, and XW-1. Well construction details are
known and were documented in previous installation reports. Completion details are summarized
in the attached table"Monitor Well Construction Details."
Non-Contaminated Wells
The site was being remediated for chloroform contamination. MW-3 and MW-4B have a recent
history of non detect (two quarters of lab reports attached) and were originally completed with
cement/bentonite (5%) grout from near the top of the screen to the ground surface. These wells
can be closed by pressure grouting according to San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division Well Standards section 13.17.4 and 13.17.8 through 13.17.14. A
hole at least 12-inches wider than the original boring will be excavated to a depth of three feet
below the surface and the casing will be cut off six inches above the bottom of this excavation
and removed. Grout used to fill the casing will be allowed to spill over into the excavation during
the sealing operation and fill it for a thickness of one foot to form a cap which has a diameter at
least one foot greater than the diameter of the originally drilled hole. After the sealing material
has set, the excavation shall be filled with clean soil.
Contaminated Wells
MIA'-2, MW-4A, MW-5, MW-6, and XW-1 have chloroform contamination and will be closed
using appropriate sealing material to permeate the well construction materials. Wire line
explosives known by the C57 contractor to be acceptable to the San Joaquin County Public
Health Services, Environmental Health Division Contaminated Sites Unit directed by Mike
Infurna will be used.
Other Considerations
The work will be performed by a licensed C-57 contractor in coordination with a San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Division Inspector. Questions regarding the content of this Work
Plan can be addressed to Tom Guido, Triple E by telephone at (209)463-2310, or John Kramer,
Condor at(209) 532-0361.
P:\0809\RYn W orkPlan W el1Closure.doc
ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGICAL a ENGINEERING • GEOTECHNICAL
