,I <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> 1.1 AUTHORIZATION <br /> This report presents the results of an acquisition environmental site investigation, performed <br /> at the request of ARCO Products Company, by SECOR at the site of a proposed ARCO <br /> AM/PM Mini-Market facility; located on the southeast corner of the intersection of South <br /> Main Street and Industrial Park Drive in the City of Manteca, California (Figures 1 and 2). <br /> This report has been prepared for ARCO Products Company, to be used solely in the <br /> evaluation of the environmental conditions of the ARCO facility as described herein. This <br /> report may not contain sufficient information for other uses or the purposes of other parties. <br /> 1.2 PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Y <br /> The objective of the environmental assessment was to `assess whether petroleum fuel <br /> hydrocarbons are present in the ARCO facility's subsurface soils, in addition to assessing <br /> rwhether petroleum fuel hydrocarbons or volatile organic compounds are present in the site's <br /> L underlying groundwater. The scope of work was developed in accordance with instructions <br /> received from Mr. Mike Whelan (ARCO Environmental`Engineer) and Mr. Ron Faust <br /> (ARCO New Site Engineer), and in accordance with` ARCO's "Specifications For <br /> Environmental Assessments and Geotechnical Engineering Studies." The following tasks <br /> were performed: <br /> • Reviewed aerial photographs/site maps; <br /> • Conducted an environmental public records search (one mile radius); <br /> • Contacted the City of Manteca Building and Safety;and Planning Departments; <br /> • Contacted the City of Manteca Fire Department, UST Division; <br /> } <br /> • Contacted San Joaquin County Department of Environmental Health, UST Division; <br /> 'R <br /> s • Queried local governing agencies for groundwater data and previous land utilization; <br /> • Drilled and sampled two vertical soil borings (SB-1 and SB-2) to a depth of 51.5 feet <br /> below ground surface (bgs) and collected one hydropunch groundwater sample.from <br /> boring SB-1, and drilled and sampled three soil boring to a depth of 25 to 27 feet bgs <br /> and converted to groundwater monitor wells; and <br /> IN 4"7-M-01 <br /> dec-96\aremteu.esa 1-1 <br /> I� <br /> r4 <br />
