mow <br /> -.r <br /> 21 March 2003 <br /> AGE-NC Project No. 95-0114 <br /> Page 6 of 10 <br /> Select soil samples from each boring will be analyzed for: <br /> • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including BTEX by EPA Method 8260, and <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as Stoddard solvents (TPH-ss) by EPA Method <br /> 8015 Modified. <br /> The pilot borings will be completed as multi-level ground water monitoring wells. The proposed <br /> screen intervals of the multi-level wells were based on interpretation of lithologic data collected <br /> during the November 2002 CPT investigation as well as previous investigations (Figure 3); screen <br /> intervals were located in zones identified as having preferential flow characteristics (porous <br /> lithology, increased pore pressure). The proposed screen-interval depths of the multi-level ground <br /> wells are: <br /> • Between 35 and 50 feet bsg to assess first encountered ground water(off-site eastern-most <br /> wells only); <br /> • Between 75 and 85 feet bsg to assess HU3 and HUS; <br /> • Between 115 and 125 feet bsg to assess HU6; <br /> • Between 140 and 145 feet bsg to assess the vertical extent of contaminated ground water. <br /> Following installation, each well will be developed to maximize water flow into the well and <br /> minimize the amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing. <br /> Procedures for well installation and development are presented in Sections 4.1.2 and 4.2, <br /> respectively. <br /> Ground water monitoring and sampling of each newly installed ground water monitoring well will <br /> be conducted on a quarterly basis; ground water samples will be analyzed for: <br /> • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including BTEX by EPA Method 8260 <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as stoddard solvents (TPH-ss) by EPA Method <br /> 8015 Modified. <br /> Ground-water-sample collection procedures are described in Section 4.5.4. <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
