1
FAST& EASY MART
Soil&Groundwater Testing Report
Page: 3
- The laboratory samples did not have head space and were immediately sealed in
their liners using plastic caps. Remaining samples were used for geologic logging
of the boring.
I
Soil samples were collected at five foot intervals for geological interpretation and
laboratory analysis (2 laboratory soil samples per b6ring). All soil samples were
delivered, under chain of custody, to an analytical laboratry licensed by the State
of California for hazardous materials work. The samples were analyzed for Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons (gasoline) and BTX&E (Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, and
Ethyl Benzene) and MTBE (Methyl tert-Butyl Ether)j
All rinse water and drill cuttings were containerized in DOT approved 55 gallon
drums. Disposal is the responsibility of the property olner. Only one of the
three drums used to contain the soil cuttings should be of concern. This drum
was marked on the white lid with a black permanentfink.
2.3 Groundwater Sampling
i
A travel blank, provided by the laboratory, accompanied the sample vials from
11
the time they were picked up from the lab to the time they were delivered to the
lab. This travel blank was analyzed only if all samples contained the same
contaminants.
I
Groundwater samples were obtained with a new disposable bailer for each boring.
{i
The groundwater samples were analyzed or extracted within 14 days according to
EPA methods. The samples were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
(gasoline), BTX&E (Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, and Ethyl Benzene) and MTBE
(Methyl tert-Butyl Ether). Analysis was conducted by Geo'Analytical Laboratories.
4.0 Conclusions and Recommendations
E
Two soil borings with groundwater sampling were drilled adjacent to the tanks and fuel
island at this facility. The first boring, B-1, did not disclose apparent or laboratory
petroleum contaminants in the soil. The groundwater sample contained an insignificant
concentration of Toluene, well below the State MCL.
Soil Baring B-2 appeared to have petroleum contaminants from lxhe surface to about 12
feet in depth_ This contaminated soil should be removed and disposed of during the tank
replacement. The low concentrations of petroleum compounds, found in the water and
capillary zone, may be coming from off'site.
