SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Based on the Iaboratory analysis of soil samples collected and field observations noted during UST <br /> removal, petroleum hydrocarbon impacts to soil appear to be located east of the former UST area <br /> and beneath the former fuel dispenser island. The proposed interim soil remediation scope of work <br /> will include the following tasks: <br /> • Pre-field work activities; <br /> • Soil excavation and backfilling; <br /> • Soil sample collection and analysis; <br /> • Soil stockpile sample collection and analysis; and <br /> • Report preparation. <br /> Each of these tasks is described in greater detail below. <br /> 3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES <br /> A health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety <br /> and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). <br /> Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and an utility clearance obtained <br /> through Underground Service Alert. <br /> 3.2. SOIL EXCAVATION <br /> Prior to installation of the new UST system at the site, contaminated soil placed into the excavation <br /> after UST removal will be re-excavated and transported to a licensed landfill facility for disposal. <br /> Based upon laboratory results of soil samples collected during removal procedures,an additional 100 <br /> tons of impacted soil will also be removed from the floor of the excavation and dispenser area and <br /> transported for disposal. Soil will be excavated to a maximum depth of 15 feet below surface grade <br /> (bsg). The total volume anticipated for removal and disposal is estimated to be 300 tons <br /> (approximately 200 cubic yards). <br /> During excavation activities, excavated soil will be screened for volatile organic compounds using <br /> an organic vapor monitor (OVM). Excavated soil that appears visibly stained or has a petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon odor will be considered impacted. <br /> Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
