• Slowly lower a close- <br /> fitt'm sur e block into thewell until it rests below the static water <br /> level, but above the screened'interval, if possible. <br /> • Begin a gentle surging motion that will allow any material blocking the screen to break <br /> up, go into suspension, and move into the well. Continue surging for 5-10 minutes, <br /> remove surge block, and pump or bail the well, rapidly removing at least one well <br /> volume. <br /> • Repeat previous step at successively lower levels within the well screen until the bottom <br /> of the well is reached. Note that development should always begin above, or.at the top <br /> of, the screen and move progressively downward to prevent the surge block from <br /> becoming sand locked in the well casing.
