hr <br /> 08 December 1998 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0144 <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br /> ' 2 7 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> Water samples were collected from each purged well using new disposable bailers Samples were <br /> ' transferred into 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml' 18% hydrochloric acid as a <br /> sample preservative and into 1-liter amber bottles without preservative The samples were <br /> transported in a chilled container, under chain-of-custody, to MAI and were analyzed for <br /> • TPH-g, TPH-d, and TPH as motor oil (TPH-mo) in accordance with EPA Method <br /> 5030/8015m <br /> • Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX) in accordance with EPA Method 602 <br /> • Volatile organic compounds and oxygenated compounds(DIPE, ETBE,MTBE, TAME and <br /> TBA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260 <br /> 3.0. FINDINGS <br /> 3 1 STRATIGRAPHY <br /> ' Fill material was encountered to a depth of approximately 5 feet bsg Soil types consisted of clay to <br /> silty sand from 5 to 15 feet bsg Silty sand Aas generally encountered from 20 to 40 feet bsg and <br /> from 45 feet to the total depth explored(55 feet bsg) A clay layer was encountered between 40 and <br /> 45 feet bsg The boring logs are included as Appendix A <br /> ' 32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES <br /> Organic vapor was not detected in soil samples collected from borings MW-19 and MW-20 Organic <br /> i ' vapor was detected In each sample collected from boring MW-21 at concentrations as high as 722 <br /> parts per million (ppm) TPH-g was detected in the five samples analyzed from boring MW-21 at <br /> concentrations ranging between 11 parts per million(ppm, reported as milligrams per kilogram) and <br /> ' 2,400 ppm TPH-d was detected in the five samples analyzed from boring MW-21 at concentrations <br /> ranging between 2 3 ppm and 2,300 ppm Benzene was detected iii one sample at a concentration <br /> ' of 0 73 ppm Toluene, ethylbenzene and/or xylenes were detected in soil samples from boring MW- <br /> 21 at concentrations as high as 0 019 ppm,4 1 ppm and 17 ppm, respectively TPH-d was detected <br /> in the sample collected from a depth of 40 feet bsg in boring MW-19 at a concentration of 1 2 ppm <br /> Other petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in the soil samples collected from borings MW-19 <br /> and MW-20 r <br /> Advanced CeoEn%iron mental,Inc <br />
