� y l- Mr Kevin McKibben (AGE) 2r - Chase Chevrolet = Madison - _ - February 25, 2000 ` Y Page 2 - COMMENT - Samples from both wells yielded very similar physicochemical results, with values considered to be adequate to support microbial growth and biodegradative activity, however, comparative microbiological recoveries weie dissimilar While sample MW-21 B yielded moderate levels of ' both general and selective subpopulations (over 21% biodegraders), sample MW-21 A yielded only a relatively small amount of general (heterotrophic) microbes, and no selective biodegraders Such results may indicate localized biotoxicity, which has not only suppressed overall microbial growth, but has significantly inhibited the development of an appropriate selective microbial subpopulation This effect may be diminished over time with localized dilution and dispersion of contaminants, however, at present, there is no evidence that ' bioattenuation is occurring for within water represented by this sample Conversely, there is ample evidence of ongoing bioattenuation for water represented by sample MW-21 B It will be important however, to ensure that necessary bionutnent concentrations remain at sufficient ' . levels to maintain ongoing microbial growth and metabolic activity Should you have any questions concerning these results, please do not hesitate to contact me ' AKK em 1 .
