3
28 March 1997
'AGE-NC Project No 95-0144
1 Page 3 of 3
' 0 The highest concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons continue to be detected in MW-1, near
the former UST excavation
• Hydrocarbon concentrations continue to fluctuate in MW-1, showing a decrease during the
first quarter of 1997 Fluctuations of hydrocarbon concentrations do not appear to be related
to changes in ground water elevation, or to be following a well defined trend, although, in
general, hydrocarbon concentrations have decreased in this well since December 1994
• Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in MW-13, approximately seventy feet up-
gradient of the former UST location, nor in MW-4, MW-8 and MW-18, located down
gradient of the'former UST location
• Low concentrations of TPH-d were detected in MW-2, MW-5 and MW-12, located equi-
' gradient from the former UST location and in MW-11, located down-gradient of the former
UST location
• Hydrocarbon concentrations were below drinking water standards in samples collected from
all wells except benzene in the sample from MW-1
_
42 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data obtained during the February 1997 and previous sampling events, AGE has the
following recommendations
• A revised Corrective Action Plan (CAP)was submitted to the PHS-EHD in March 1997 The
CAP recommended excavation at the former locations of UST No 1 and UST No 8 and
natural attenuation in the area of former UST,Nos 3-6 Upon approval of the PHS-EHD,
recommendations of the CAP should be implemented
■ The next quarterly monitoring should be scheduled for May 1997, concurrent with monitoring
at the Van Buren site
50 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in thus or similar localities The findings were based mainly upon
t analytical results provided by an independent Iaboratory Evaluations of the geologic conditions at
the site have been made from a limited number of available data points-(i e ground water monitoring
wells), and subsurface conditions may vary through time and with distance from these data points
No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional recominendations contained
in this report
