I
I
16 28 February 1997
AGE-NC Project No 95-0144
4
_ r
Upon approval by the PHS-EHD, a Remedial Action Work Plan should be prepared for the
' recommended remedial alternatives y
i
8.0 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REMEDIATION OF HYDROCARBON- ,
IMPACTED GROUND WATER
Ground water, znonitonng at the site indicates that MW-8 is the down-gradient well' The highest „
concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons have been consistently detected in MW'1, near the former
' location of USTs No 3 through 6 Petroleum hydrocarbons have been detected in several other wells
during past monitoring events However, hydrocarbon concentrations have remained relatively low
'Only benzene concentrations in MW-1 have been consistently above the State of California Division
' of Drinking Water Maximum Contaminant Levcl,(MCL) of 1 0 ppb The impacted ground water
plume appears to be stable or decreasing and has not migrated ott-site Due to the low hydrocarbon,
concentrations and stable ground water plume, we recommend natural attenuation as the remedial
' option for ground water at the site
Ground water clean-up goals should correspond with State of California MCLS However, if a stable ,
or decreasing plume can be demonstrated, higher contaminant concentrations may be left in place
Ground water remediation alternatives, estimated durations and associated costs for the site are
' summarized on Table 9
9.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydrogeologic
` conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number of
' available data points (i a monitoring wells, soil borings) and subsurface conditions may vary away
from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is` made as to the professional
' recommendations contained in this report
I I '
I t '
I
