San Joaquin Local riealth District
Roberts Oil Facility
Page 2
for laboratory analysis. Samples will be analyzed for the presence of
total extractable hydrocarbons as diesel, total volatile hydrocarbons
as gasoline, as well as benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total
xylenes.
We recommend at this time, that initial remedial actions be started
without delay. Free -phrase petroleum hydrocarbons have been
detected in well MW -1, which is currently dry. Well MW -1 is
approximately 44.5 feet deep and groundwater has been recently
measured in other on-site wells at a depth of approximately 45 feet.
This condition has persisted for at least the past year and has
deemed well MW -1 unusable for removing free -phase hydrocarbons.
The free -phase fraction should be removed in order to reduce the
potential for an increase in the dissolved fraction. EES proposes to
install a recovery well in order to begin removing the free -phase
hydrocarbons. The well would be installed in the area of MW -1 as
shown in Figure 1.
If you have any questions, please call our office.
Very truly yours,
Britt Von Thaden
Project Geologist
BVT:jcd
Enclosure
Lawrence D.
