i
• These numbers represent very small concentrations, and in view of the fact that TT-2 is located
only 15 feet from the downgradient edge of the former UST cavity, it is apparent that
groundwater contamination at this site is neither excessive nor widespread
5.0 ADDITIONAL WELL SURVEY INFORMATION
As requested by PHS/EHD, we contacted the owner of the the well at 705 E Lodi Avenue and
reviewed the microfiche files at the PHS/EHD offices for additional information about wells
within 2000 feet of the site The Lodi Avenue well is owned by the City of Lodi and is operated
as a domestic drinking water well by the Department of Public Works According to Mr Frank
Beeler of DPW, the well is numbered Municipal well 1-R and was drilled 1n 1988 The well is
screened from 150 to 400 feet BSG and is completed with a gravel pack It is pumped
intermittently as needed, at an average rate of 1,190 gallons per minute It's total production in
1999 was 1,917,000 gallons It was last sampled in 1997, and no petroleum hydrocarbons were
detected It is due to be sampled again in 2000
The PHS/EHD microfiche files contained records for five private wells that had not been
discovered during our previous file review at the California Department of Water Resources or
our drive-by search of the area All records were in the form of drilling permits, Iittle or no
information was available on the construction or use of the wells
All five wells are located on North Cluff Street (one block east of the site) (Figure 4) The files
. contained a permit for a well to the southeast of the site at the southwest corner of East Pine and
North Cluff Streets No other information was provided Another well is located at 1200 East
Pine at Cluff The well was drilled for domestic use, but no other information was included To
the north, there was a permit on file for a 14-inch-diameter well near the interesection of Victor
Road and Cluff There was also a well destruction permit on file for a 14-inch well at Stub's
Paint and Body Shop at 320 N Cluff, which is near this interesection, but it was not clear
whether these were the same or different wells The destructin permit was dated February 1986
The well was 250 feet in depth Farther north, a domestic well was listed at 544 N Cluff, 114
mile north of Victor Road No details were provided
6.0 CONCLUSIONS
In the Third Quarter Report, we suggested that it may be possible to obtain unconditional
regulatory approval for case closure if hydrocarbon concentrations remain low or show evidence
of further decline The December result from TT-2 shows that the concentration has indeed
declined below detectable limas In accordance with the December 1, 1999 correspondence from
Ms Oz at PHS/EHD, we will prepare a cost estimate to write a Site Closure Report and submit it
to the UST Cleanup Fund for pre-approval Assuming that the estimate is acceptable, we
. 3
