Pg2 4036 Part A
Section 6 Health Hazard Data
Inhalation Health Risks and Symptoms of Exposure: Inhalation of mists and vapors can cause
dry throat and cough, dizziness, nausea, headache and fatigue. MDI can induce respirator
sensation with asthma- like conditions/symptoms.
Skin and Eye Contact Health Risks and Symptoms of Exposure: Repeated skin contact may
cause irritation. Eye contact will cause irritation - flush with water for 15 minutes and get
medical assistance.
Skin Absorption Health Risks and Symptoms of Exposure: Repeated skin contact can cause
reddening, swelling and blistering. A single prolonged exposure is not likely to result in the
material being absorbed through the skin in harmful amounts. Preliminary data from a research
study indicates that MDI in corn oil injected intradermally in guinea pigs can elicit a respiratory
sensitization reaction.
Ingestion Health Risks: Single doses oral toxicity is believed to be low. MDI acute oral LD50 is
above 5,000 mg/kg. In humans, irritation of the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, and stomach can
develop following ingestion of this product.
Additional Comments: This product contains petroleum oils similar to ones categorized by the
international Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as causing skin cancer in mice after
prolonged and repeated contact. If mists are generated, may cause irritation of the pulmonary
tract, skin or eyes. Any potential hazard can be minimized by using recommended protective
equipment to avoid skin contact and by washing thoroughly after each handling.
Medical conditions generally aggravated by exposure: Skin and eyes sensitization.
Emergency and First Aid Procedures:
Eye: Flush with water for 15 minutes.
Inhalation: Take person to fresh air. If difficulty in breathing persists provide oxygen and get
medical attention immediately.
Skin Contact: Wipe area with Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) followed by thorough washing with soap
and water.
Ingestion: Give large amounts of water and consult a physician. (never give anything by mouth
to an unconscious person). Consult Physician immediately.
Section 7 Precautions: Safe Handling & Use
Spilled Product: Eliminate ignition sources like heat, open flame and sparks, ventilate area of
spill and dike area. Cover the spill with inert absorbent and place into proper containers. Cover
spill with sawdust or other absorbent material. Scoop and place in open container and treat with
decontamination solution (93%water, 5% ammonia, 2% detergent). Leave open in a ventilated
area for 24 hours. Neutralized waste—neither the solid nor the liquid portion is a hazardous
waste under RCRA, 40 CFR 261.
Disposal Method: Bury or landfill decontaminated waste in accordance with Federal, State and
local environmental control regulations.
Storage: Keep in cool dry area, away from heat and open flame or sparks.
Other Precautions: Individuals with respirator-problems to isocyanates must not be exposed to
vapors or spray mist containing isocyanates.
ASTC Polymers l MSDS 4036 EFF020102
