PURPOSE and SCOPE <br /> This site Safety Plan presents the scope of services to be performed in the Removal & <br /> Disposal of Underground Product Lines at 6425 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA <br /> This scope of work is designed to address only those tasks as related to the removal Underground <br /> Product Lines <br /> PROPOSED PRODUCT LINE REMOVAL <br /> Actions to be taken in this phase of work at the site are characterized by several operational steps. <br /> A general overview of the protocol to be used include the following: 1) removal of concrete or <br /> asphalt covering the lines, 2) removal of soil overburden surrounding the lines, 3) segregation if <br /> necessary, of contaminated soils, (please note, that this work plan addresses only those tasks <br /> required to remove the product lines from the subject site). 4) placing all soil on two (2)layers <br /> of plastic of 6 ml thickness and covering with same, the stockpiles will be diked/bermed All <br /> product will be removed from the tanks. The lines will rinsed and rinsate will be placed in 55- <br /> gallon drums and stored on site until manifested for proper disposal. 5) The product lines will be <br /> measured for the LEL levels to determine cleanliness of the product lines and are safe for <br /> removal from the pit (with the approval of San Joaquin County Environmental Health) 6) the <br /> Product lines will be removed from the excavation and the soil attached to the lines. Following <br /> the process the lines will be loaded and hauled to a disposal facility. 7) obtaining soil/water <br /> samples from the excavation under the direction of the lead agency and in accordance with the <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health Dept. 8)Analytical samples will be transported under a <br /> chain of custody, to a state certified laboratory for the required analyses. <br /> STAFFING and PROJECT MANAGEMENT <br /> Trained staff from W. A. Craig, Inc. will provide field support and site safety officer duties. <br /> SITE SECURITY and SITE CONTROL <br /> Prior to commencement of activities, the Project Site Safety Office will notify the owner of the <br /> Product line removal. The appropriate state, local and private entities will be contacted and all <br /> permission and permits necessary for the performance of the work described in this plan will be <br /> applied for and obtained on the job site. All work shall be barricaded and physically supervised, <br /> controlled and restricted from unauthorized and unnecessary access. <br /> The excavation will be fenced with portable chain link fencing six(6) feet in height. The <br /> stockpile will also be fenced with portable chain link fencing. No visitors shall be allowed <br /> in or about the excavation site unless properly briefed in safety procedures and hazards. <br /> No construction or work activity shall be conducted unless all of the preceding safety <br /> precautions are in effect, equipment is present and either the Project Manager and/or the <br /> Project Site Safety Officer is present and in control of the entire situation Any person <br /> directly exposed to any of the hazards present or injured by the work in any manner shall <br /> receive medical attention unless said person is a representative of an agency in authority <br /> and refuses said treatment. <br /> 2 <br />
