Garrett Backus [EH]
From: Marty Weithman <martyw@servicestationsystems.com>
Sent: Thursday, December 01, 2016 7:27 AM
To: Garrett Backus [EH]
Subject: RE: Safeway permit - new San Joaquin County policy
Hi Garrett,
I apologize for the mix-up for this job. For some reason when I reviewed your new permit guidance document, I thought
the cold start provision was in a different category than the "like for like" replacements. I was reading it from the pdf
screen. I should have printed it out.
In this case, the date and time of the cold start was November 20, 2016 at 12:29 pm.
Please issue a refund for the application fees. Let's not create work and expense where it is not needed.
Thanks for your help.
Marty Weithman
Permit Compliance Officer
Service Station Systems Incl Able Maintenance Inc.
680 Quinn Avenue
San Jose, CA 95112
(408) 213-6038 (direct)
(408) 213-6026 (fax)
email: martywOservicestationsystems.com
From: Garrett Backus [EH] (mailto:gbackus*sjcehd.coml
Sent: Wednesday, November 30, 2016 4:54 pm
To: Marty Weithman
Subject: Safeway permit - new San Joaquin County policy
Hi Marty,
We don't require a permit for this cold start as of Oct 1. You can notify us at ust@s[cehd.com of the time and date of
the work and other information specified in the attached "...Permit Guidance". We will accept notification after
completion of the work if the scope is not known before the tech is dispatched to fix the problem.
The only thing needed for this job is the time and date of the cold start for our records. Everything else was already
provided in the permit application and I attached to this email in the "scope of work..."
We can issue a refund for the permit fees unless SSS or Safeway want the permit issued and the work inspected by the
EHD.
Garrett Backus, Ld. Sr. REHS, CUPA programs
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E Hazelton Ave, Stockton, CA 95205
