1 . 0 INTRODUCTION/PREVIOUS WORK
This report is being submitted in response to a request by
the San Joaquin Local Health District/Environmental Division
for a subsurface investigation of the lateral and vertical
extent of soil and/or groundwater contamination at the Heinz
facility, 757 E 11th Street in Tracy. The subject property
is currently occupied by a food processing company (Figure
1 ) .
On March 31, 1989, an underground diesel tank was removed
from the site (Figure 2 ) . Soil contamination was noted in
the sidewalls of the excavation . Soil samples were
collected from each wall of the pit . The laboratory results
for the samples are included in Appendix I . In addition,
groundwater was observed at a depth of 10 feet in the
excavation. Due to e elevated concentrations of diesel
constituents in the soils, combined with the presence of
groundwater in the pit, the San Joaquin Local Health
District is requiring further assessment of soil and
groundwater contamination at the site .
2 . 0 TECHNICAL DATA
2 . 1 Name and address of site, tank owner and contact person:
Site and Tank Owner : Heinz Inc .
757 E. 11th Street
Tracy, CA 95376
Contact P Mr .
