i� <br /> 1 .0 INTRODUCTION/PREVIOUS WORK ; <br /> k This report is being submitted in response to a request by <br /> �✓ the San Joaquin Local Health District/Environmental Division <br /> for a subsurface investigation of the lateral and vertical <br /> extent of soil and/or groundwater contamination, at the Heinz <br /> facility, 757 E lith Street in Tracy. The subject property <br /> is currently occupied by a food processing company (Figure <br /> 1 ). VO)SI <br /> On March 31, 1989, an underground diesel tank was removed <br /> from the site (Figure 2) . Soil contamination was noted in <br /> the sidewalls of the excavation. Sbri.l were-. N <br /> collected from each wall of the pl . The laboratory results <br /> for the samples are included in Appendix I. In addition, <br /> groundwater was observed at a depth of 10 feet in the <br /> excavation. Due to the elevated concentrations of diesel <br /> constituents in t'he soils, combined with the presence of V <br /> f groundwater in the pit, the San Joaquin Local Health <br /> District- required further assessment of soil and groundwater <br /> contamination at the site. The assessment was conducted in <br /> accordance with the workplan presented in our May 8, 1989 <br /> Preliminary Report.
