i� 1 .0 INTRODUCTION/PREVIOUS WORK ; k This report is being submitted in response to a request by �✓ the San Joaquin Local Health District/Environmental Division for a subsurface investigation of the lateral and vertical extent of soil and/or groundwater contamination, at the Heinz facility, 757 E lith Street in Tracy. The subject property is currently occupied by a food processing company (Figure 1 ). VO)SI On March 31, 1989, an underground diesel tank was removed from the site (Figure 2) . Soil contamination was noted in the sidewalls of the excavation. Sbri.l were-. N collected from each wall of the pl . The laboratory results for the samples are included in Appendix I. In addition, groundwater was observed at a depth of 10 feet in the excavation. Due to the elevated concentrations of diesel constituents in t'he soils, combined with the presence of V f groundwater in the pit, the San Joaquin Local Health District- required further assessment of soil and groundwater contamination at the site. The assessment was conducted in accordance with the workplan presented in our May 8, 1989 Preliminary Report.
