OCT 23 89 14:44 BIO NP"TOh4AL CORP.
BIO NATIONAL CORPORATION
Water, drawn from below the floating product in the collection/bio-treat-
ment tank, will be transferred to a 500 gallon surge tank to continue
biodegradation as the water is drawn to the AOU and treated for final
disposal. The AOU's ozone/uv/carbon procedure will destroy residual
microbes and oxidize remaining contaminants. (NOTE. The system has the
flexibility to utilize the AOU as a pre-treatment before biodegradation,
but the amount of floating product precludes this as the
most viable alternative at this time.)
We will draw samples of extracted, bio-treated and ozonated extractions
daily for one week, every other day for two weeks, and weekly
thereafter, These will be submitted for laboratory analysis and reported
to you as directed. On site air pollution control and water quality
readings can be made available, as you require. We will maintain pH and
Oxidation ]Reduction Potential (ORP) records as well.
APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE TO TREAT CONTAMINATED SOILS IN SITU - As
previously stated in numerous prior communications, we will submit,
during the groundwater extraction phase, an application to DOHS/Alterna-
tive Technology, for a variance to treat the contaminated soils in situ.
We hope to initiate this phase of work while the groundwater extraction
phase is still underway. The movement of groundwater toward the
extraction well MW-'1 is important to the process for containing potential
excess watery inoculum in biotreatment, or returning ozone charged -water
in soil flushing, should that be a required component in the approved
system.
WE ARE R-8QUEST1NG NO ACTION ON THIS PHASE NOW. THE RESULTS OF
THE PHASE II REPORT WILL BE THE BASIS OF A VARIANCE APPLICATION.
Thanks for your prompt reply. The groundwater extraction equipment is
ordered for two week delivery. We will have a set of Mass Spectrometer
readings on the treated well development water available after a minor repair
is effected on the AOU.
Kindest regards, Y
0;el
Gerald Todd, Ph.D.
President
cc: Dames & Moore/Duane Balch
Holt Bros./Al Nielsen
RWQCB/Tom Peltier
DOHS/Aternative Techriology/Dr. Iden Smarkel
2 HOLT910
