Box 2009
Stockton. CA 95201
Re: Quarterly Report, Holt Brothers, 1541 West Charter Way,
Stockton, CA
Dear Margaret:
This letter report summarizes the activities for the fourth
quarter of 1990, at the above referenced site (Figure 1 & 2).
Groundwater monitoring data collected on December 17, 1990,
(Table 1), indicates groundwater flow beneati, the site is toward
the southwest" with a magnitude of approximately 0.001 ft/ft or
5.26 ft/mile (Figure 3). Monitoring wells MW2 and MW3 are not
included in the groundwater gradient calculation due to their
i
tpartial penetration through the zone of saturation (Table 2) .
This gradient is consistent with observations presented in Dames
and Moore earlier reports.
Monitoring wells MW5 and MW6 were purged by extracting approxi-
mately four well volumes (casing and ssndpaek). Approximately
0.02 inches of free product was measured in MW1 (Table 3 ) .
Groundwater monitoring wells MW2, MW3, and MW4 were hand baled
dry and allowed to recover several times to extract stagnant
water from the wells. Indicator parameters (temperature, EC and
PH) were allowed to stabilize before obtaining the groundwater ;
sam?iles. Groundwater samples were collected using a teflon
bailer with a bottom emptying device. Samples were contained,
preserved, and transported under chain-of-custody to Applied
Analytical (DHS Certification #1211) in accordance with EPA
protocol. The samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethyl-
benzene, xylenes (BTEX), total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
and diesel (TPHG & D), and halogenated volatile organics by EPA
methods 8020/6015 and 601; respectively.
Laboratory results indicate non-detectable levels for all con-
stituents of petroleum hydrocarbons (BTE7t/TPHG & D) in wells MW2,
MW3, MW4 and MW6 (Table 2). Monitoring well MW5 analytical
results show 2.0 parts per billion (ppb) benzene, 1.0 ppb ethyl-
benz?ne, 2.0 ppb xylenes, 50 ppb total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline. Halogenated volatile organics were also noted in MWS
6 J
1710 MAIN STN EST • ESCALON,CA 95320 • (209)S38-3507
2350•A WALSH AVENUE 9 SANTA CLARA,CA 95051 • (408)496-1249
