e
PHASE II SITE INVESTIGATION
HOLT BROTHERS TRAGIOR
s FOR
BIO NATIONAL CORPORATION
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Thic report presents the results of a Phase II Site Investigation performed
at the Holt Brothers Tractor Company facility located at 1521 West Chtrter Way,
Stockton, California (Figure 1).
The Holt Brothers Tractor Company is a farm equipment dealership.
Activities conducted at their facility include the maintenance and repair of farm
equipment. Seven underground storage tanks (USTs) used for storing hydraulic
oil, solvents, oils, waste nil, gasoline and diesel fuel were once included
within the facility.
1.1 GEOLOGICAL SETTING
The Holt Brothers site is located in the northern and of the San Joaquin
Valley. This valley, along with its northern counterpart, the Sacramento Valley,
is part of the Great Valley geomorphic province. The Grant Valley is a north-
south elongated structural trough filled with sediment derived from both warine
and continental sources. The continentally-derived sedimentary deposits comprise
the upper portion of the valley fill, and were deposited in fluvial, alluvial,
and lacustrine environments. Sources of the sediment include the Sierra Nevada
to the east and the Coast Range to the west.
The soils underlying Holt Brothers Tractor Company are:comprised mainly
of interbedded and interfingering clay, silts, and fine grain sands. These are
interpreted as flood basin deposits which were deposited in low-lying areas
adjacent to streams during periods of flooding. Infiltration and permeability
z,
rates tend to be low due to the relatively fine grain size of the interfingered
clays and sills.
SAC03.001 Z November 1989
