R: a01
mix- Nil
 xi' 1-11MON-1 :n
a
HIO NATIONAL CORPORATION
APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE TO TREAT CONTAMINATED SOILS IN SITU - As
previously stated in numerous prior communications, we will submit,
during the groundwater extraction phase, an application to DOHS/Alterna-
tive Technology, for a variance to treat the contaminated soils in situ.
We are evaluating the cuttings soil treatment at this time. We will have
lab reports on these before applying for the variance. We hope to
initiate this phase of work while the groundwater extraction phase is still
underway. The movement of groundwater toward the extraction well
MW-1 is important to the process for containing potential excess watery
in-,culum in biotreatment, or returning ozone charged water in soil
flushing, should that be a required component in the approved system.
WE ARE REQUESTING• NO ACTION ON THIS PHASE. NOW. THE RESULTS OF
THE PHASE II REPORT ARE THE BASIS OF THE COMING VARIANCE
APPLICATION.
We loolc forward to a tech meeting with you as soon as possible.
Kindest regards,
._. raldi
,D
President
Enclosures: Dames & Moore Phase II Report
Lab iZeports on Groundwater Treatment
cc: Holt Bros./Al Nielsen
RWQCB/Tom Peltier
DOHS/Aternative Technology/Dr. Ken Smarkel
3 HOLT910
is
