Charter Way, Stockton <br /> Dear Diane: <br /> Attached are the analytical results for water samples obtained from MW--1 and <br /> MW-6, and a location map. 'Hater levels indicate that the groundwater gradient <br /> in the area is directly south, in a direction from MW-1, toward MW-6. <br /> As evidenced by the results, no detections of hydrocarbons were noted in the <br /> MW-6 water sample. On site evaluation of MW-5 also indicates no detections of <br /> hydrocarbons in that well. This data seems to suggest that the plume of <br /> y ; contamination in the groundwater identified around MW-1 line not extended <br /> Intently at this point. <br /> Wo, and our subcontractor for tile study, Dames & Moore, recommend the <br /> County of San Joaquin approve the beginning of extraction of groundwater <br /> and free product from MK-1 as soon as possible. This would decrease the <br /> probability of any additional, latent migration downgradient from MW--1 while <br /> the D&M Phase II Investigation Report is finalized. <br /> This Phase I1 report covers both the sail and groundwater contamination, and <br /> will be the basis of the long term treatment program for soil and groundwater. <br /> We are requesting permission to collect the extracted groundwater on site, <br /> subjecting same to a combination of biological and ozone/uv/carbon treatment <br /> (Advanced Oxidation Unit) before disposing in the local sewer system, <br /> The groundwater and floating product will be extracted separat tly fr)m MW-I, <br /> by a combined extraction system provided by Diversified Well Products, Inc. <br /> We have the capability to collect floating product and groundwater separately, <br /> but will direct both flows into a single 6,000 gallon biotreatment tank at the <br /> rate of 2-5 gpm. This tank will be vented through a ::arbon air filter. <br /> INITIATION or GROUNDWATER EXTRACTION AND TREATMENT - Biological <br /> treatment is to biodegrade the floating gasoline and solvent components, <br /> plus any that are in evidence in the extracted water.
