Our county well standards require
removal of the well contents for wells situated in an area known or suspected of having contamination. Monitoring well
MW-22 passes through the interval monitored by MW-23, where groundwater is impacted by dichlorodifluromethane and
triflurodichloromethane, therefore MW-23 must be destroyed by removing the well contents. The other well in question,
MW-24, and its companion well MW-25, are impacted by the chlorinated compounds, so you may destroy that well by
pressure grouting in accordance with our county well standards.
If the wells are on private property, you should review your access agreement before grouting in place. If the wells are in
the public right-of-way, check with public works. Any additional questions, please contact me by email or at(209)468-
3436.
Nuel Henderson, PG
From: John Yoakum [EH]
Sent: Wednesday, January 23, 2013 8:44 AM
To: Nuel Henderson [EHj
Subject: FW: Stockton Well Abandonments - 1904 Charter Way
Nuel,
This letter fired off several red flags for me.
Perhaps it is best if you respond.
There is no list of contamination in the wells.
Johnny Yoakum
From: Andrew Tracy [mailto:]
Sent:Tuesday,January 22, 2013 11:01 AM
To: John Yoakum [EH]
Subject: Stockton Well Abandonments - 1904 Charter Way
Hi Johnny,
Please Disregard the Previous Email as It does not include both attachments.Sorry for the confusion.
I left you a voicemail last week regarding the requirements to destroy 5 monitoring wells at our site in Stockton. You
returned my voicemail saying we were likely looking at a drill out unless the site was pristine, which it is not. I have
attached a figure and table with well construction details,as well as a letter from RWQCB dated December 21,2012
requesting that the wells be destroyed. The copy did not pick up the site boundaries,so for reference the eastern
plane of the Former Container Storage Area is coincident with the eastern perimeter of the Site. Everything east of
this line is offsite in residential neighborhoods. MW-16,MW-17,and MW-28 are also offsite wells. The wells to be
destroyed are 2 shallow zone wells(MW-3 and MW-4),and 3 intermediate zone wells(MW-19, MW-22,and MW-24).
1
