Charter Way 1N REPLY REFER TO SITE CODE : 1053
Stockton, CA
We have reviewed the May 2, 1991 Work Plan for Excavation and Treatment of Hydrocarbon Contaminated
Soil at the above referenced address. Two underground fbel storage.tanks were removed on March 20,
1991. Soil samples taken from tank pit #2 indicate that hydrocarbon contamination is present at 9 feet
below ground surface (benzene, 0.15 partes per million (p m); toluene, 1.5ppm; ethyl benzene, 0.56ppm;
xylenes, 3.6ppm; and total petroleum hydrocarbons 510p .)
The work plan for re-excavation is acceptable with the foil owing provisions:
1. A site specific health and safety plan is su mitted to this office and kept on-site during all
field work.
2. Soil samples are to be taken in brass tubes, sealed, and preserved at 4oc until laboratory
analysis.
3. The Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations are to be used in addition to the LUFT
Manual as a guidance document for the investigation and in preparing the preliminary
report.
If you have questions, call Eleanor Ratliff, RENS, of my st , at (209)468-3454.
JogKhanna, , M.P.H.
Health Off' r
aurle tl al , REHS, Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
LAC/ER:nr
C., Geological Audit Services, Inc. - Victor Cherven
1803 W.
