A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 1.
• Mr. A. Keith Kaufman is a consultant to Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) in
envirormtental biotechnology and has performed soil and ground water analyses for
physicochemical properties and bioenumeration at the subject site since 1995.
• Samples have been collected from the site and analyzed for physicochemical properties
(nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, phosphate and potassium) since August 1995. Decreased
nitrogen concentrations have been observed at the site. This can be attributed to nitrogen
usage by the hydrocarbon-degrading microbes.
• Table 3 (attached) from the Quarterly Report -March 1997, prepared by AGE, summarizes
physicochemical data collected since August 1995. Low nitrogen concentrations are
observed within the contaminant plume. Some depletion of nutrients likely occurred prior
to collection of these data as evidenced by higher nutrient concentrations outside the
contaminant plume.
• Shown as a general chemical balance equation, the bacteria consume hydrocarbons, oxygen,
nitrogen (nitrate or nitrite) and other trace elements and produce carbon dioxide, water
nitrogen gas and biomass.
1803 West March Lane, Suite A, Stockton,California 95207
Telephone(209)956-0264 FAX(209)956-0700
