The report is inconclusive and did not provide all of <br /> the information to grant you the"No Further Action(NFA)" you requested. <br /> In a telephone conversation between Mr.Muir and Michael I uma,Senior RENS on October 13,2000,it was <br /> determined that addition soil sampling was needed for some constituents that were detected in the UST removal,but not <br /> analyzed for in the samples collected in June,2000. <br /> There has been adequate time for you to reconsider your actio for this site and submit a work plan to collect the <br /> missing data. In recent phone conversations with Mr.Muir,Mr.Infuma detailed the missing information and advised <br /> that hand auguring to greater than 10 feet below ground surf ac e(bgs) was only permitted when a California G57 <br /> contractor signed the PHS-EHD boring permit application. <br /> Of major concern for this site is the status of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel(TPH D),motor oil,and methyl <br /> tertiaiybutyl ether(MtBE) in the soil in the former UST pit. I levated levels of TPH-D (7,400 mg/kg), 1,2- <br /> dichloroethane,and motor oil were detected in the soils at 3' gs. Additional soil sampling for these constituents,as well <br /> as MtBE by EPA Method 8260B,is required in the UST pit arca. Conclusions for vertical delineation in the soil should <br /> be bas ed.on two consecutive soil samples at five-foot interval that are.non-detect at LUFT detection limits`' <br /> Currently a valid permit remains open and available for Earth c Ltd.only,the G57 contractor utilized during the June <br /> 2000 soil-sampling event. If another contractor is to be used, a new application and S89 fee is required prior to starting <br /> the next phase of fieldwork. A new work plan is due at PH EHD by March 30,2001.
