Mr. Alan M. Buehler
May 19, 2017
REVISED PROPOSED SITE ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES
Arcadis originally proposed three soil borings (B-49, B-50, and B-51) in the CSM, dated December 30,
2016. Pursuant to the February 23, 2017 CVRWQCB response letter included in Attachment 1, Arcadis is
submitting this revised Work Plan to clarify the previously proposed location of B-49, propose collection of
soil samples from six additional soil boring locations (B-52, B-53, B-54, B-55, B-56, and B-57) shown on
Figure 2, and discuss historically dry wells and the current groundwater data in reference to well
replacement recommendations. Proposed soil samples are summarized below.
• Soil samples will be collected from five soil borings (B-49, B-50, B-51, B-52, and B-53) advanced
to approximately 70 feet bgs.
• One soil sample will be collected from soil boring B-54 at 2.5 feet.
• One soil sample will be collected from soil boring B-55 at 6 feet bgs and one soil sample will be
collected from B-56 at 13 feet bgs.
• Two soil samples will be collected from soil boring B-57 at 6 and 13 feet bgs.
Soil Boring Prefield Activities
Prior to conducting field activities associated with advancing soil borings, the prefield tasks below will be
completed.
Health and Safety
Arcadis will prepare a site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP)for the proposed scope of work as
required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Standard "Hazardous Waste
Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (29 Code of Federal Regulations Section 1910.120)
and by California Occupational Health and Safety Administration (Cal-OSHA) "Hazardous Waste
Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (California Code of Regulations Title 8, Section 5192).
The HASP will be reviewed and signed by Arcadis personnel and subcontractors performing work at the
site.
Permitting
Encroachment permits will be obtained from San Joaquin County Department of Public Works for the
proposed locations along Patterson Pass Road prior to commencing field activities. Boring Permit
applications will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (County)
and submitted for the proposed locations. Copies of the approved permits will be included in the final
report. Arcadis will coordinate field activities with the County and schedule a county inspector to provide
oversight of the activities, as necessary.
Soil Boring Field Activities
Arcadis proposes advancing a total of nine soil borings as detailed below.
Utility Clearance
Prior to conducting subsurface work at the site, the proposed soil boring and well locations will be cleared
for underground utilities by a private utility locator and Underground Services Alert (USA).
