O. Box 388
Stockton, California 95201
Re: Abandonment of Wells at ARCO Service Station No. 760, Located at
225 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), EMCON has prepared this letter summarizing
the proposed field activities associated with the abandonment of three monitoring wells (MW-1
through MW-3) and thirteen vapor extraction wells (VW-1 through VW-13) at the subject site (see
Figure 1). Individual well construction details are presented in the attached table, and well locations are
shown on Figure 2. Based on a letter from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services
(SJCPHS) dated April 29, 1997, the SJCPHS indicated that no further action related to the
underground storage tanks was required. In addition, SJCPHS indicated that the wells could be
abandoned.
EMCON will contract a licensed drilling contractor to abandon the sixteen wells. The wells will
be decommissioned by pressure grouting each well from the total depth to the surface. The grout
will consist of neat cement. A concrete seal will be placed at the surface.
Please call if you have questions regarding the information in this letter.
Sincerely,
EMCON
&444& CIsa:,
PAYENT
Claudio Avila J.
