Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Subject: Status Letter of Soil Investigation at ARCO Service Station No. 760, 225
South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California.
Ms. Cotulla:
At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), Applied GeoSystems is submitting
this letter in response to your October 1, 1990, letter to Mr. Kyle Christie of ARCO in
which you stated that the San Joaquin Public Health Services had not received a status
report for work we conducted at the subject site (Site Code 1314). Your reference code for
this site is Site Code 1314. A status letter reporting our progress on the investigation was
Federal Expressed to your office on September 18, 1990 (Applied GeoSystems, Report No.
38048-4, September 17, 1990). This status letter also included a request for a permit to drill
near the existing and proposed gasoline tank cavities in the locations shown in our Work
Plan, dated April 23, 1990. Ms. Darlene Reuss of your staff issued a permit to drill (permit
No. 90-2583) to Wayne Drilling of Lincoln, California, on September 25, 1990. The drilling
operation began on October 5, 1990.
We stated in our September 1990 letter that a work plan to delineate appropriate
hydrocarbons or a status letter stating the date we expect to issue the PAR would be
submitted to your office approximately 3 months after the completion of the tank
replacement. We now understand from ARCO personnel that they have changed their tank
replacement schedule from the fall of 1990 to the first half of 1991. At the request of
ARCO, Applied GeoSystems will submit a report on our work near the former waste-oil
cavity and the gasoline tank cavity by January 1991.
