4 <br /> 1 <br /> EMCOn Associates <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard •Sacramento California 95834-1943 • (916) 928-3300 • Fax(916)928-3341 <br /> I <br /> February 13, 1995 <br /> Project 0805-142 01 <br /> Mr Kyle Christie <br /> ARCO Products Company <br /> P O Box 5811 <br /> San Mateo, California 94402 <br /> Re Fourth Quarter 1994 Status Report for ARCO Service Station No 760 at 225 South <br /> Cherokee Lane, Lodi, Cahforrua <br /> Dear Mr Christie <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), EMCON and others are conducting an <br /> environmental investigation at the subject site (see Figure 1) We have prepared this status report on <br /> the work conducted during the fourth quarter 1994 Work included subjective analysis of water <br /> samples from each monitoring well, thickness of floating product, if present, measurement of <br /> groundwater elevations in each monitoring well,evaluation of the groundwater gradient, and collection <br /> and analysis of groundwater samples <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In September 1988, RESNA Industries ([RESNA] formerly Applied GeoSystems) observed removal <br /> of an underground waste oil storage tank located to the east of the station building In June and July <br /> 1991, RESNA observed removal of three gasoline storage tanks and associated product piping and <br /> two additional waste oil tanks Analytical results indicated hydrocarbons were present at the limits of <br /> the former underground gasoline tank and waste oil tank cavities (RESNA, June 25, 1991, <br /> Report 38048-4) <br /> Between May 1990 and January 1994, RESNA investigated the impact of hydrocarbons to soil <br /> beneath and Just north of the site and dissolved hydrocarbons beneath the site A total of 22 soil borings <br /> were drilled on site and 2 soil borings were drilled off site, 3 monitoring wells, 10 vapor extraction <br /> wells, and 1 off-site vapor extraction well were installed at the site Boring locations and well locations <br /> are presented in Figure 2 Residual gasoline and diesel hydrocarbons were detected in soil beneath the <br /> site (RESNA, January 7, 1993, Report 38048-7 and RESNA, June 8, 1994, Report 38048-11) <br /> Dissolved hydrocarbons as gasoline were detected in all monitoring wells However, dissolved <br /> hydrocarbons as diesel and oil and grease were below laboratory detection limits <br /> 10) A vapor extraction test was conducted on June 14, 1991, results indicated that vapor extraction is a <br /> feasible method of remediating soil at the site An effective radius of influence of 22 feet was estirnated <br /> for the site(RESNA, April 7, 1992, Report 38048-5) <br /> SAC1P7010805108051420 IBM-94 PAS 3 <br /> f � J <br />
