Cherokee Lane <br /> Lodi, California <br />�I <br /> ' Dear Ms Lagorio <br />' URS Corporation Americas (URS), on behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO—a BP affiliated <br /> company),has prepared this report to document site assessment activities conducted in March 2004 and <br /> to present the workplan for additional assessment at former ARCO Service Station No 760, located at <br /> 225 S Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California(Figure 1) <br /> The assessment was conducted in response to a letter from the San Joaquin County Environmental <br /> Health Department (SJCEHD)dated November 17, 2003, which requests evaluation of the lateral and <br /> vertical extent of 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in the groundwater beneath the site Assessment <br /> activities were conducted in accordance with the soil and grab groundwater sampling scope of work <br /> described in the Workplan for Soil and Groundwater Assessment, submitted by URS on January 13, <br /> 2004, to the SJCEHD The workplan was approved on January 20, 2004, and a workplan addendum was <br /> i approved on February 24, 2004, which allowed for three sot] borings to be advanced instead of the four <br /> described in the original workplan Soil boring permits, correspondence from SJCEHD, and <br /> encroachment perrruts from the City of Lodi are included in Attachment A The following pages present <br /> t the site background, subsurface conditions, assessment activities and findings, and the workplan for <br /> additional assessment <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site, located at 225 S Cherokee Lane in Lodi, California (Figure 1), was formerly operated as an <br /> ARCO gasoline station with an AM/PM mum-mart The site is bounded by an alley to the north, Lodi <br /> Avenue to the south, residential property to the west, and S Cherokee Lane to the east (Figure 2) As <br /> part of divestment activities, all USTs, dispensers, and associated piping were removed in August 2002 <br /> under URS supervision The site is currently operated as a used car dealership <br /> Analytical results of groundwater samples collected from three on-site monitoring wells between <br /> October 2002 and third quarter 2004 identified the presence of 1,2-DCA at the site <br /> The City operates municipal well #1R, which is 812 feet east of the site Total depth of well#1R is 395 <br /> feet below ground surface (bgs) and is screened from 150 to 395 feet bgs The well has an open bottom, <br /> is currently active, is operated continuously during the summer and approximately three days a week <br /> during the winter, and has a pumping rate of 1,100 gallons per minute <br />✓ URS Corporation <br /> Crown Corporate center <br /> 2870 Gateway Oaks Drive, Suite 300 <br /> Sacramento,CA 95833 <br /> Tel 916 679 2000 <br /> Fax 916 679 2900 K 1Wprocess\J5 BP ARCO\0076012004 Assessment1760 site assessment report with workplan V2 04 doc <br />
