CHEROKEE, LODI. SITE CODE: 1319
RECORD OF FINDINGS FOR MAY 9, 1996 OFFICE MEETING
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has
concluded its review of the information provided during the May 9, 1996 office meeting at
PHS/EHD offices located at 304 E. Weber Avenue in Stockton and is providing the following
comments regarding the above referenced site.
Participants of the meeting included:
Lloyd Gums Property Owner/Responsible Party
Mildred Gums Property Owner/Responsible Party
Margaret Lagorio PHS/EHD
Ron Rowe PHS/EHD
Kenneth Clark Twining Laboratories Inc.
Ken D. Jones Twining Laboratories Inc.
This meeting focused on data quality objectives for the above referenced site. The topics
included during this meeting were presented in correspondence from PHS/EHD to the responsible
parry dated April 3, 1996. The meeting included discussion of work performed by Twining
Laboratories Inc. to date which indicates that Fuel Hydrocarbon Constituent(FHC) contaminants
are present at this site in soil as a result of preliminary assessment.
After lengthy discussion with the representatives of Twining Laboratories Inc. (TLI) and the
responsible party, PHS/EHD will require the responsible party to resample and confirm that
native soils are sampled in the dispenser area to the east. Analysis shall include TPH as gasoline
and diesel, BTEX and MTBE. It was agreed at this meeting that TLI will resample soil from this
area at no additional charge to the responsible party under direct supervision of PHS/EHD staff.
Given the detection of FHC contaminants at 35 feet, the outcome of the discussions regarding
the dispenser area to the north provided the responsible party with a minimum of two options.
One, further assessment to more precisely define contaminant distribution or two, compromise
on a mass balance calculation which provides information to this agency which may be utilized
in determining the potential for contaminant migration to groundwater.
