x
3r
IT CORPORATION
4.0 CONCLUSIONS
Hydrocarbons were detected by a GX-3A meter in several soil samples col-
lected in the upper 20 feet in most of the .yell
Pit. Soil samples tested from wells Mld-; MW_8'surrounding the tank
furthest from the tank it d `8, and MW-9, located
Pit, detected hydrocarbons at
and greater. depths of 30 feet
In Well MW-8, 3.44 feet of free product has been measured. petroleum
hydrocarbons have been detected in water samples collected from Well
MW-l., and a sheen and petroleum odor were recorded in Well MW-g.
The pattern of contamination indicates that the source of the hydrocar-
bons is in the area of the tanks. It appears that the hydrocarbons
moved essentially straight dawn until encountering the water table,
where the plume has spread laterally.
aThe data could be interpreted to indicate that a leak has occurred in
- the vicinity of the tanks on the Kayoproperty
northwest in the direction of MW-8, Thedatac uld also ibeaintg to the
interpreted
to indicate that while there is soils contamination in the vicinity of
the tanks on the Kayo property, the Plume of
free migrating from the nearbyChevron station on the north product ct could o
of the Kayo
'.` Property.
There is a Chevron station located to the north of the Kayo station, and
this station is a
Possible source of the free product found in Well
MW-8. Because of the amount of product in Well MW-8, the water table
gradient cannot be determined at this time. Also, because of the pre-
sence of irrigation wells in the area, the water table gradient probably
fluctuates seasonally due to irrigation pumping. The present data indi-
cate that Chevron could be a contributor to the plume under the Kayo
station; however, the data is not sufficient-ta__confirm ar deny this-at -
-- - ---- -
yF s ime.
ENG:0089
ei
a
