The facility, located at 900 South Cherokee Lane (see the Location Map, Figure 1),
is operated by Conoco Inc. as a s_-rvice station for unleaded, super-unleaded, and reg-t+lar-leaded
gasoline, and diesel fuel. This subsurface exploration was performed in three phases between
December 2, 1987 and November 28, 1989 and was coordinated with Mr. Mike Hansen of Conoco
Inc. (Houston).
1 he purpose of this study is to ascertain the possible presence and extent of hydrocarbon
contamination in the native soils and ground water of the subject property. We understand that
` this study was performed in response to a request by the Regional Nater Quality Control Board
Central Valley Region (RWQCB, letters dated May 22 and September 25, 1957) for further
definition of the extent of soil and ground-water contamination at the above-referenced site.
SCOPE OF SERVICE
Our scope of service included a site visit, review of pertinent geologic and hydrogeologic literature
and maps, review of previous consultant reports made available to us, subsurface exploration,
laboratory testing, geologic analyses, and the preparation of this report. Selected soil and ground-
water samples collected from the expiorat,^ry borings and monitoring wells during our investigation
E ? were sent to Trace Analysis Laboratory (Hayward) for chemical analyses.
SITE CONDITIONS
'
'fhe Douglas Gas Station is located on the east side of South Cherokee Lane, east of the
-- intersection with Viae Street. The site is bordered by a restaurant to the south, a swimming pool
retail store (previously an automotive repair shop) .and a gas station/car wash to the north,
automobile sales lots to the northwest, and residential housing to the west and east (see the
attached Site Photograph, Plate 1). The Douglas Gas St-tion site (lot size of approximately
230 x 250 feet) lies on nearly-flat terrain at an elevation of approximately 52 feet above mean sea
level. No detailed topographic or survey maps of the site were available at the time of our study.
y -
The Douglas Gas Station is situated on a composite of artificial fill(i.e. materials placed by man),
-- and natural alluvial tan and river terrace deposits associated with the Mokelumne River. Tile
Tmajority of the subject property is-currently covered with several inches of asphalt or concrete. he --
-' condition of the asphalt ranges from relatively good condition to highly cracked is several areas.
7068 Koll Cenler Parkway,Suite 401 Neasanlon,California 94566 415.462.77-12 800.468.2122 PAX ■4115.462.7.9-A
s 500 W Dullon's Mill Road.Suite 702 Aston,Pennsylvania 19014 215.497■5800 800.548.1964 no
