Main Street
Chattanooga, TN 37408
RE* Douglas Gas Station
900 S. Cherokee Lane
Lodi, CA 95240
Dear Mr. Williamson:
On 8-20-85, two additional groundwater monitoring wells were installed at
the Douglas Oil Company service station located at 900 S. Cherokee Lane in
Lodi, CA. These two new wells are in compliance with the Phase 1 objectives
for this station.
Monitoring Well #13 is located in the northwest corner of the asphalt drive
area at the property line that parallels Cherokee Lane and 30 feet south of
the north property line This monitor well boring was drilled to a depth of
76 feet and a 2-inch PVC monitor well was installed, consisting of 50 feet
of slotted screen and 25 feet of solid well casing for a total finished depth
of 75 feet.
There were detectable hydrocarbon odors in the soil from 20 feet down to 53
feet where water was encountered, with the highest reading recorded at the
50 to 53 foot levels, but there was no evidence of saturated soil or any
visible sign of hydrocarbon on the groundwater sample.
Monitoring Well #14 is located more or less in a line with MW#10 and MW#12,
in the asphalt drive area. Two attempts were made before the drilling of this
well exceeded 2 feet. On the first two attempts, concrete was encountered at
approximately 12 inches and the drilling was stopped.
The bore hole for this well was to a depth of 76 feet, 6 inches with a finished
monitor well depth of 75 feet, 10 inches consisting of 50 feet of 2-inch PVC
well screen and 25 feet, 10 inches of solid well tube.
Hydrocarbon odor was detected at the 30 foot level and was recorded for the
balance of the boring down to 53 feet, where groundwater was encountered.
There were no saturated soils observed during the drilling and there was no
visible sign of hydrocarbon on the groundwater sample.
