Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
(TPHd) was detected at a maximum concentration of 6,400 milligrams per (mg/kg). Traces of
ethylbenzene, xylenes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and lead were also present.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in the groundwater at 55 feet below ground
surface. Based on these results, LTS proposed to excavate and remove petroleum
contaminated soil from beneath a former aboveground tank and a former fuel dispenser area.
Between November 2009 and January 2010 LTS excavated approximately 8,800 cubicrrds
(yd3) of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil. LTS transported approximately 2,400 yd of the
soil to Forward Landfill in Manteca for disposal; 6,400 yd of soil remained stockpiled on site.
In May 2011, LTS' consultant, MARCOR Environmental (MARCOR), inoculated the stockpile
with a biological and nutrient solution to stimulate biodegradation of petroleum constituents.
MARCOR conducted sampling in November 2011 that showed TPHd concentrations had been
reduced compared to baseline sampling conducted in January 2011. Central Valley Water
Board staff concurred with LTS' request to backfill the excavation with the remediated
stockpiled soils in November 2011.
Based on site conditions, your site may soon be eligible for closure. As part of the public
notification requirement, by 30 March 2012, submit a map depicting your site and a list of all
property parcels located within 200 feet of the Site, the name of the property owner for each
parcel, a mailing address for each owner, and a separate fact sheet summarizing the
environmental activities related to the former release. The information will be used to inform
surrounding property owners of environmental activities, including site closure.
California Environmental Protection Agency
0 Recycled Paper
