r
4 j Although these three chlorinated hydrocarbons are present at levels well below state and
federal action levels and hence require no further remediation, it is prudent that the
continued monitoring of their concentrations be implemented to verify source removal. A
second round of sample collection and analysis should be completed following removal of
3 all contaminated soil.
Specific work performed during this phase of investigation included:
i. Preparation of the Problem Assessment Workplan and application for monitoring
i" well permits.
' 2. Drilling of four soil borings and the conversion of three of the borings to groundwater
monitoring wells, MW-1, MW-2 and NMI
_ I
I Collection of soil samples at 5 foot intervals down to groundwater.
4. Development of the.three monitoring wells and collection of water samples.
5. C impletion of two angle borings under buried 500 gallon leaded gasoline tanks.
G. Analysis of water samples for BTXE, diesel fuel and
purgeable halocarbon
compounds. Analysis of soil samples for BTXE,diesel fuel, purgeable halocarbons,
and in the case of the angle borings, dibromoethane (EDB) and tetraethyl lead
(TEL).
7. Preparation of this report.
In summary, minor groundwater contamination, acknowledged in the Tank Excavation
Assessment Report, as a result of over-spillage from the_underground_waste_oil_tank-has
,_
been quantified. The majority of contaminated soil has been removed for off-site disposal T
and soil borings have been completed to assess the areal and vertical extent of the remaining
soil contamination.
` J
2
1
