San Joaquin Ave.
Stockton, CA /80v 35.26
SUBJECT: Fueling Island - 3535 E. Cherokee Road, Stockton, CA
Dear Ms. Hinson:
Environmental Science & Engineering, Inc. (ESE), on behalf of Cecchini, Cecchini, and
Giovannoni is notifying you of work to be conducted at the subject site. There is currently
one monitoring well, UST-1, located within the fueling island at the site. Well UST-1 has
had problems with leakage of fuel from the surface and has been repaired twice within the
last year. The latest repair was March 1992 when ESE placed a second cover and re-fitted
the water tight seal on the well. The well has been in a quarterly monitoring program since
October of 1992. The first quarter 1992 monitoring was delayed due to repairs needed on
the well.
The purpose of the work is to clean the well of debris and fuel, measure well efficiency and
pumping rates, perform quarterly monitoring and extract water from the well on a weekly
basis. By extracting water on a weekly basis, we expect to remove petroleum hydrocarbons
in ground water in the immediate vicinity of the well. The work will be performed by ESE
and Mr. Robert Cecchini.
The work has been scheduled for April 23, 1993 beginning at 10 AM. The first phase of
work, well cleaning, pumping, and quarterly monitoring, will be performed by ESE. This
work is as follows:
• Measure water level and product levels in the well with an electronic interface probe.
Obtain data.
Clean Well UST-1 by pressure washing or steam cleaning the well with clean water.
Concurrently with cleaning, the well will be pumped of debris and all fluids. The
amount of fluid extracted from the well will be five volumes more than that used to
clean the well. An air-lift pump will be used to evacuate the well during the cleaning
process. All fluid and debris evacuated from the well will be stored in Department
of Transporation rated labeled drums in a secure area of the site.
014 ,
4090 Nelson Avenue,Suite J Concord,CA 94520 Phone(510)685-4053 Fax(510)685-5323 \
