Advanced
GeoEnvironMI `Inc. = F
(f Northern California P2: 53
11 August 1997
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0312
Ms. Letitia Briggs
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY PHS-EHD
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Underground Storage Tank Removal
CHIIROKEE TRUCK STOP (Former Delta Truck Sales)
335 East Cherokee Road, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Briggs:
The current occupants of the Cherokee Truck Stop, Woolsey Oil Company, plan to vacate the property by
31 August 1997. We would like to tentative schedule the removal of underground storage tanks (I)STs),
dispensers and piping for 02 September 1997. The tank removal will be performed in accordance\vith the
UST removal work plan and subsequent addendum prepared by AGE and approved by the PHS-EHD.
rs
unlerous soil borings have been installed near the UST and piping locations. Analytical results of soil
amples indicate a'.limited vertical extent of impacted soil in tliearea of the UST and eastern portion of the
ispenser piping. Therefore, limited excavation of impacted soil will be performed during the UST and
iping removal. We anticipate excavation will not exceed ten feet below the bottom of the USTs or dispenser
i im If impacted soil is more extensive than anticipated, excavation will be terminated and alternate plans
for remediation examined. Impacted soil extends to depths of at least 70 feet bsg and is laterally more
extensive at the location of monitoring well UST-1. Therefore, excavation is not planned for his area at the
-
present time. A plan of the site illustrating boring locations is included as Figure 1. Cross section A-A',
running parallel to the dispenser piping, depicts the estimated extent of impacted soil beneath the piping.
Analytical results of soil boring samples are summarized on Table 1.
As the proposed data for the UST removal nears, we will contact your office to'confirm the date and time
for the UST removal. Please contact our Stockton office at (209) 956-0264 if you have any questions or
Comments.
Sincerely, f
l
Advanced GeoErivironmental,Inc.
Kevin McKibben
Senior Staff Geologist
cc: Mr. Ellis Cecchini - Cecchini, Cecchini and Giovannoni
Mr. Michael Infurna- PHS-EHD
1803 West March Lane, Suite A, Stockton,California 95207
Telephone(209)956-0264 FAX(209)956-0700
I
