Lo' `-we
30 March 2012
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0312
Soil cuttings and rinseate generated during drilling activities will be containerized in
properly labeled Department of Transportation(DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums, and
stored on-site in an area lacking public access. Disposal alternatives for rinseate and soil
will be selected based on results of a laboratory analysis.
3.2. WELL COMPLETION AND SURVEY
The high vacuum SVE wells, VW-4 through VW-8, will be completed utilizing 4-inch
diameter schedule 80 polyvinylchloride (PVC) well casing with 15 feet of 0.030-inch
continuous slot PVC well screen.
Vapor wells VW-9, 10 and 11 will be completed utilizing 4-inch diameter schedule 80 PVC
well casing with 20 feet of 0.030-inch continuous slot PVC well screen.
After installing the well casing in the boring, a filter pack material will be slowly poured
through the augers over the screen interval to approximately two feet above the screened
intervals; filter pack material in the SVE wells will consist of a #3 Lonestar or coarse sand.
A one foot bentonite seal (bentonite chips)will be placed above the filter pack to minimize
the potential for grout penetration into the screened section of the well. The bentonite seal
will be formed by pouring bentonite chips into the annulus and allowing the chips to settle
on the filter pack. The bentonite chips will be allowed to hydrate with tap water for a
minimum of one-half hour prior to grouting.
The remaining annular space will be filled to within 1 foot bsg with a cement grout. The
grout mixture will consist of Type 1/II portland neat cement and not more than 6 gallons of
water per 94-pound sack of cement. The grout will be placed by pumping through tremmie
pipe. A grouting inspection will be scheduled with EHD personnel. Proposed well
construction diagrams are depicted in Figures 5 and 6.
Following completion of the SVE wells, well elevation and global positioning system (GPS)
location will be surveyed by a California-licensed surveyor relative to a benchmark. Well
elevation will be surveyed in a format acceptable for the State GeoTracker database.
3.3. SVE SYSTEM DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION
A portable high vacuum, oil-ring blower equipped, SVE system with 240Volt, 3-phase,
electrical heated catalytic oxidizer (specifications to follow in report) will be placed at the
site for HVSVE operation. The blower system will be attached to all vapor wells; vacuum
readings will be obtained from surrounding wells (Figure 2).
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc.
